Karen Schiltz became vegetarian in the late 1980s and has been vegan for over 25 years. She never thought of turning her passion for the vegan lifestyle into a business until she took a trip across the US in 2015, all alone in her Subaru and discovered that she loved to travel, finding vegan food and writing about her adventures on her Facebook page and photography blog. Shortly after returning home she began to dream of traveling and promoting vegan companies around the country. Talking about the idea of starting a vegan business made people in her community of Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts very excited and interested! They began asking her to cook for them and teach them about plant based eating. Very soon she was cooking in people’s kitchens and leaving them wonderful dishes to enjoy, taking them on supermarket tours and talking up her favorite vegan products. In 2017, she learned that one of her long-time heroes was training and certifying Vegan Lifestyle Coaches in New York City, so Karen signed up and earned her certification in April of 2018. She currently does product demos and brand ambassador work for cruelty-free and vegan products, as well as servicing a few select clients as a vegan personal chef.
